Processing of personal data

ICTU is the controller responsible for the processing of personal data through the website ictu.nl and the services it offers. ICTU protects your privacy in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

ICTU processes your personal data when you use our services and/or when you provide your data to us. For example, when you visit our website, contact us, register for or participate in an event, or request information or a digital newsletter. Personal data may also be processed in connection with the performance of an agreement between ICTU and you or your organization.

ICTU only uses the personal data you provide for the purpose for which it was collected or for purposes compatible with that purpose. Furthermore, ICTU only processes personal data when necessary. The personal information you provide is treated confidentially. We do not retain your data longer than necessary to achieve the purposes for which it was collected.

In all other cases, the personal data concerned will be deleted.

Types of data and retention periods

ICTU only processes standard personal data of non-employees, including:

The exact personal data we process and the retention periods depend on the specific situation.

When registering for an event, the personal data required depends on the type of event and what is necessary to organize it or to invite you to similar events in the future (provided that you have given consent for this).

Your image may be captured during participation in digital events, and these recordings may be retained by ICTU. If an online session is being recorded by ICTU, this will be announced in advance. If you do not wish to appear in a recording with audio or video, you may switch off your camera and microphone.

When you apply for a vacancy at ICTU, we retain your data for four weeks. In some cases, we may ask for your permission to retain your data for a longer period. In that case, the retention period is six months. If your application results in employment with ICTU, your data will be retained for up to one year after the end of your employment.

Legal bases for processing

The legal basis on which ICTU processes personal data depends on the situation. This may include:

Security

ICTU takes the protection of your data seriously and implements appropriate measures to prevent misuse, loss, unauthorized access, unwanted disclosure, and unauthorized alteration.

We apply both technical and organizational measures to safeguard the personal data we process. We do so in accordance with applicable legal requirements and standards, including the GDPR, the Dutch GDPR Implementation Act (UAVG), the NIS2 Directive, and the Dutch Government Information Security Baseline (BIO).

Sharing data with third parties

ICTU does not sell your personal data to third parties and only shares it where necessary for the performance of our agreement with you or to comply with a legal obligation.

When companies process personal data on our behalf, ICTU concludes a data processing agreement with them to ensure the same level of security and confidentiality for your data. ICTU remains responsible for these processing activities.

Cookies

ICTU’s website uses functional and analytical cookies. A cookie is a small text file that is stored in the browser of your computer, tablet, or smartphone when you first visit this website.

ICTU uses cookies for the following purposes:

No Consent Required

The cookies we use do not require visitor consent because they do not infringe on users’ privacy.

Piwik PRO Analytics

ICTU uses the open-source web analytics platform Piwik PRO to collect website statistics. The data collected is used exclusively to improve the website and is not processed for any other purpose. The data is stored on a server located in the Netherlands and managed by the Dutch government.

IP Address

Piwik PRO stores only part of the IP address. At the very beginning of a website visit, Piwik PRO removes the last octet of every IPv4 address and the last four groups of four characters (hextets) of every IPv6 address. This takes place in temporary memory before the remaining part of the IP address is stored in Piwik PRO. As a result, the data we store cannot be traced back to you as a visitor.
